My Beloved Iraq

An installation artwork by two Iraqi Artists

Well, we think that it is time to tell you our opinion about what is happening in our homeland, or isn’t it so? We believe that art can treat things in a different way and in a more effective one.

Childhood, history, culture and almost everything else is destroyed, but still we have hope, and at the same time raise the question ”Are we that Barbarian?”  We do not want to answer, as we want to put the question and to scream ” Is there some other death than our death” We suffered enough during the Saddam regime and we are a part of this world- whether you want it or not.

Probably some others stand in the middle of the way, and those others who listen to both, that is not true, because this is a one-sided issue here. And the other side is forced to be absent, so can we say? Or in other words can you hear?

It is an artwork we are presenting, it is an artwork not some attack, it is an artwork that we want to show and try to express the situation of our beloved country as we see it. And we wonder how an artwork can stand in this ingest world.

Let us see if we tell our humanitarian artistic message, can we say our visual words, because the sound words are useless, can we say some alternative language that might create some understanding. An old Arabic proverb says; when you throw clay at a wall, if the clay does not stick, it leaves a mark.
